The team will come from Cairo to share the work and open the doors and space for others to join in on the process though a lab and transmission process.
Project Concept
An adaptation and continuation of turning, a dance performance that focuses on a choreographic research on the action of turning, as metaphor to the cycles of life; from the atom to the cosmos, the cycles of our bodies and our emotional cycles. Diving into this everlasting transcending repetitive movement that delivers the soul carried by the body into a suspended state of being, we dig to find what makes us carry on in life.
this work aims to portray that mankind … a being alive by his dynamics, always moving and cycling. Highlighting the idea of trial and continuity, mans’ drive to keep moving. The performance becomes an experience to be lived, on the state of trance as we try, we fail, we try again, we repeat our trials over and over in a continuous state of existence and turning. We arrive to one point… yet we never settle… we keep moving on and trying again … maybe somewhere else maybe towards something else. For arriving is not the point, the journey is all that matters.

Preformance in Moods: The sight- the tribute to Maged Maher
Note from the festival director: “After the first Women By The Sea exhibition in 2015, Maged talked about how much he appreciated art and how he was particularly fond of paintings of whirling dervishes. He was looking to have an exhibition of whirling dervishes at moods. This is our way of celebrating him by fulfilling his vision, not only in the form of painting, but also in the form of exploring the dance itself."
Dance Workshop and Lab: in parallel with onsite dance performance creation
From a contemporary dance perspective, researching how repetition and transformation are linked and what is found beyond the trance.
Inviting the participants of the workshop to share the stage and follow the score of the final performance.
Sharing the work process and the creation process with the workshop participants, transmitting the material of the work, the tools and concept.
Working with twirling and turning as the main action, allowing the trance to manifest, a healing process as well as a method to connect to ourselves body and soul.
